Context
Deep Work Rhythm is a personal product I use in my own work. It was created around a simple premise: focus tools should protect attention instead of becoming another complex system to manage.
Problem
Productivity interfaces often add pressure, notifications, and too many decisions. I wanted a direct and comfortable environment that makes it easy to begin one focused block of work.
Role & Ownership
I defined and built the product end to end: the interaction model, interface, focus flow, and the supporting music-discovery layer.
Technical Decisions
- Built the experience with Next.js, React, and TypeScript.
- Kept the main flow intentionally small: choose a duration, choose a presence sound, and begin.
- Added subtle environmental feedback through the garden-click interaction rather than introducing distracting gamification.
- Curated a focus playlist that can introduce independent artists in a context that respects the work session.
Outcome
- A live tool used in my own daily work to create a calmer starting point for focused sessions.
- A product foundation that can support artist discovery without treating attention as an advertising surface first.
Notes / Lessons
The most useful product decision was subtraction. A focus tool earns its place by making the next action obvious and the environment comfortable.
